Old_north_october_movies_flyer_2

the old north st. louis restoration group is sponsoring a series of free movie nights in october, with a giant inflatable screen provided by frontyard features.  i must say that old north is my second favorite neighborhood in the city, love to benton park, but first in terms of the pioneering, progressive spirit of residents.  when adam and i bought our house three and a half years ago, we considered old north, but ended up in benton park instead.

it's awesome to see what's happening with the crown square development.   i have had an eye on the pedestrian mall for 5 years now, since i first began photographing in north city.  i always fantasized about it actually being something one day.

anyway, go check out the goonies tomorrow night.  and take a look at all of the action in old north.  be inspired.

Panic Attack:

You almost made me regret my decision to become a metallurgist instead of a civil/architectural with those links, Becca. Historic preservation is a little dream hobby I have a goal of participating more fully in one day soon. I am scouting out the groups here in Houston already, but I don't feel they are nearly as strong as the ones in STL. Maybe I can help them get there....???

in my rush to get images up, i forgot to post this one.  adam shot this during the reception.  talk about an amazing moment.  great find, boo!

it is images like this that distinguish visual storytellers from "picture takers."   we're proud to be of the former camp.

we had been looking forward to andrea and gerrit's big day for a long time.  they had a grittastic engagement session awhile back and being that andrea is an interior designer, i knew the details would be fab.  they did not disappoint!

despite a few small glitches on their big day, andrea and gerrit kept on smiling.  the ceremony took place at the world's fair pavilion in forest park.  the reception was at lumiere place hotel.

ah, the glorious details!  check out this whopper of a fall wedding inspiration board.  i see these all the time on other wedding blogs and figured this could be a super helpful thing for those of you in the planning stages.  check out the uber-creative place settings that andrea put together using an iron-on veneer.  i also love the jack-o-lantern centerpieces.

i can't remember which bridesmaid first hopped up on this lower part of the bridge, but what a brave soul in those shoes (which are AWESOME, btw)!

i also love the choice of khaki for the guys.

poor andrea had to climb up the shiestiest "stairs" (and i use the term loosely) and had to walk the plank, really, to get to this spot, but it was oh so worth it.

(10.08.08)
Lissy:

They were from the Jessica Simpson Line & some girls wore a pair Andrea picked out at Payless (dyables). The Jessica simpson ones were the donora & Dover pumps. ***Warning***My legs still hurt :)

these are great guys! I love the ones of the bride crying at the ceremony, makes me tear up a little...I have a question -- what are that tiny bride and groom? cake toppers? they look super tiny, unless the bride and groom had big fingers... hehe

Becca:

yesterday i had the pleasure of meeting and photographing mark and robyn (and pups maggie and max) who came to us from a silent auction to benefit stray rescue.

we had a beautifully lit and tempered evening in kirkwood park and downtown kirkwood.  you guys know what huge fans of the city we are, but if we ever decide to have kids and have to make a b-line to the 'burbs when they turn 5, i think kirkwood would be a great alternative!

my posts have been picture-free for too long!  have you visited the light project yet?  it's AWESOME.  so awesome, in fact, that adam and i felt the need to stop and visit every evening when we went out four weekends in a row.  chorus, by artists rainer kehres and sebastian hungerer, transformed the old burned out church on spring near the contemporary art museum into a community-lit beauty.  all of the lamps that adorn the church's empty roof were donated by st. louisans.  to see just who donated, check out the lamp collection blog.   it will be lighting up what is otherwise a fairly desolate block for only another week or two.

and another image of my hubby as we left wasabi's sushi eating contest in which one of these years i will get around to participating...
