shhhhhhh, don't tell. home repairs make me happy. i know, it's sad. i never ever thought there would be a point in my life when windows would excite me, or a fence, or the latest yippideedooda is finally joining the 21st century with a couple of stainless steel appliances, but that time is now. [embarrassed sigh here.]
i'm not too much of a materialistic person, in general, but i was truly excited about the aforementioned house improvements. maybe it's because our house was built in 1879 and there is ALWAYS a never-ending list of repairs and updates. the bones are good, but the overabundance of grandma's pink tile in our bathroom is not.
reading magazines like dwell and readymade, and cruising by design within reach (within reach for whom, i might ask?) when making my almost weekly cupcakery run, doesn't help the matter.
you may one day finding us living in a yurt. yep, i'm completely serious. we were first introduced to the idea on our honeymoon. we spent a couple of days in a gorgeous, laid-back little mountain town in new mexico called jemez springs. the owners of a local restaurant where we had dinner one night invited us to go take a look at their yurt. we LOVED it.
yurts aren't a new thing. people have lived in the circular tent structures in mongolia and other central asian countries for a long, long time.
we are not inside the box type people, as you may know. :-)
tiny house anyone? if your interest is peaked, check out this slideshow on tiny house living from the new york times.

I'm on a historic house kick and have become obsessed with learning about home repairs and renovation. If I had an endless supply of capital, I would be all about that stuff. Alas, I am using the current job to develop that revenue stream, but the timeframe to develop that supply is a lot longer than I want it to be. I guess I have my whole life ahead of me...
