the first contest image will go up in two days. ARE YOU READY? don't be intimidated. you can do it. the prize is worth more than a little uncertainty, isn't it?
why didn't we have you write an essay, you may wonder? it's a test, you see. if you're just crazy enough to gallivant around the city on a mission for a prize, we already know we're a great match for your big day. we're super fans of the 'lou, so this is a killer way to share our favorite haunts. it's a win-win-win!
and to keep the images flowing, here's a quiet and simple image i love from courtney and chasity's rockstar wedding i second shot with stephen in may. i dig the juxtaposition of the beautiful shoes, well-manicured toes and gorgeous dress with the well-worn, wooden floor.

i'm going to go off on a tangent now. (the image above got my gears grinding.) adam and i met in grad school at mizzou. we were both studying photojournalism. the single most important thing i took away from my experience there is the ability to wait. i learned to be patient in how i make images. i constantly look around me and absorb the scene-- waiting for the right moment, emotion, interaction-- waiting for whoever/whatever i am interested in to be in exactly the right place. that means looking up, down, around, behind me (i have eyes in the back of my head, you know!) that means climbing up, laying down, moving around...we are not rapid fire photographers- shooting off a gazillion frames a second in hopes of capturing just one keeper. we wait.
i'm a very visceral shooter while adam is more methodical. it's a good balance.

(07.03.08)San Miguel de Allende is a great place to get married. In fact that is how we discovered San Miguel de Allende. I read about a couple who had gotten married in San Miguel de Allende. We did some research and drove over and spent the week. We fell in love with the city, drove back to our house in Colima, gave notice to our landlord and with two weeks we had all of our belongings and moved to San Miguel de Allende.
There are so many beautiful places in San Miguel de Allende to get married, Instituto Allende, Casa Schuck, Rancho de la Capilla just to name a few. With their secret gardens, baroque, colonial architecture...
Then there are many wonderful restaurants to cater the event, flowers are much cheaper in Mexico. Also in San Miguel de Allende, so many people speak english so language shouldn't be a barrier. For more information about San Miguel de Allende go to www.whatshotinsanmiguel.com
